Dan apCapturepeared on Good Morning America, alongside of HLN’s Nancy Grace,  Wednesday, May 25th to discuss the latest Bill Cosby bombshell. The former TV dad will stand trial on charges that he drugged and sexually assaulted women in 2004.  More than 50 women have accused Cosby of sexual assault and the prosecution is likely going to fight vigorously to try to get their testimony included in this case. Dan commented, ” The question is will they be able to testify? And if they are, this case against bill Cosby is going to be a very powerful, strong one. If they can’t, if a court deems that they cannot testify as part of this case, this is not going to be that easy a case against Bill Cosby.” Watch the full segment here.

CaptureDan went head to head with HLN’s Nancy Grace on Good Morning America, Wednesday, March 4th. They were discussing the issue of “free-range” parenting and specifically parents from Maryland, who were charged with neglect after letting their 10 and 6 year old children walk home from the park, unsupervised. The parents were found responsible by child protective services for unsubstantiated child neglect, sparking a fiery debate. Child protective services says Maryland’s state law states that children under the age of 8 must be under the care of a person who is at least 13. The family is fighting back and hiring lawyers to file an appeal. Dan commented, ” …the reality is this is not nuts in my view. The idea that two children walking in a neighborhood, 10 and 6, that their parents are now being found responsible for child neglect. The question isn’t should a 10-year-old and a 6-year-old be walking alone, that’s not the question. The question is should the authorities be stepping in and getting involved and bringing in the government to make these sorts of decisions for parents? I know how much a lot of parents want to be the parent police here. But that’s not the question. It is crazy that the authorities are involved.” Watch the full clip here.

Dan on Alleged ‘American Sniper’ Killer’s Defense

February 12, 2015

CaptureDan appeared on Good Morning America, alongside of HLN’s Nancy Grace, Thursday, February 12th to discuss the trial of Eddie Ray Routh. Routh is the man accused of killing ‘American Sniper’, Chris Kyle and friend Chad Littlefield on February 2, 2013, at a Texas gun range. Routh is planning on an insanity defense citing PTSD as a key factor in his not guilty plea… but is that enough? Says Dan,  “PTSD is not enough to say I shouldn’t be held responsible for my actions. It has to be my PTSD was so bad that I didn’t understand right from wrong. But, look, in this case, this is a comparatively good insanity claim and what I mean by that is the insanity defense is always tough… but they have evidence here of not just mental illness, but of comments he made afterwards that may suggest that he didn’t understand what he did was so terrible. That’s the important thing in this case and to have the victim himself having said this dude is straight up nuts… that’s not a legal or medical assessment but is sure helpful to the defense.” Watch the full clip here.
