Dan on Good Morning America

January 14, 2016

I know it has been awhile since I’ve last posted so I thought I would give a recap of some of Dan’s most recent Good Morning America pieces. To kick off the new year Dan gave us a recap of all of the major trials and legal decisions from 2015 as well as what to look forward to in 2016. One case that is ongoing and to watch out for is that of Bill Cosby. Dan appeared on GMA this past week to discuss the women accusing Cosby of sexual assault plus the new criminal charges brought up against the past TV dad. And finally, Dan’s most recent story is that of the ‘Affluenza’ teen’s mom, Tonya Couch, who is charged with a third degree felony, hindering the apprehension of a fugitive and has posted bond that was recently reduced from $1 million to $75,000. Top Five Most Read Stories on This Site So Far This Year

While this site is not a traffic driven site, it is still fun to occasionally look back at which stories are the most clicked and read. Since this site also isn’t promoted much, the top stories are attributable primarily to Google search traffic. We went back and looked at the top trafficked stories for the past four months (Jan. 1 to April 30) and there were definitely some surprises.

The number one story was a, umm, well, it’s just a post about a funny looking frightened child. Yup, that’s it. This should, in and of itself, remind us all that the internet rewards the wacky in a big way.

Brian Williams was a huge topic and this post Dan wrote, got an enormous amount of attention on Mediate and elsewhere.
Same thing with this post on actress Kelly Rutherford’s fight to get her kids back. Dan has taken the lead on that story and it was reflected in the amount of traffic the story received on this site.

I can’t really explain why this story about Dan’s coverage of a lawsuit by an American Idol winner came out at number four except that maybe this was the best legal analysis of a case which only received limited attention?

Finally, its worth noting that a close sixth was our piece on Dan’s coverage of the Amanda Knox case.

Dan on Final Appeal in Amanda Knox Case

March 25, 2015

CaptureDan appeared on Good Morning America, Wednesday March 25th, to discuss the latest in the ongoing Amanda Knox case. Italy’s highest court is reviewing the final appeal of Amanda Knox’s murder conviction of the brutal 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, Knox’s roommate while she studied abroad in Italy. This high-profile legal saga of Knox and her then boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito ( also convicted),that has flip-flopped from guilty to innocent to guilty verdicts, will finally reach a final conclusion. Dan commented, “It’s been a winding and emotional ride for Knox, her 2009 conviction for the alleged murder of college roommate Meredith Kercher was overturned on appeal in 2011 then that acquit wall as thrown out in 2013 and she and ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted again last year by an appeals court… If this conviction is upheld there are no more appeals on the murder charge in Italy.” Watch the full story here.
