Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Dan joined the crew at GMA on Tuesday, March 17th, to discuss the alleged murder confession made by Robert Durst at the end of HBO’s “The Jinx”. Durst was long suspected in the disappearance of his young wife and later suspected in the murder of a friend and then, was acquitted in a third case (even after confessing to killing a neighbor). But now, after the HBO documentary, “The Jinx”, based on Durst, played an audio of him off camera alleging confessing, he is under arrest and about to be extradited, charged with murder. Dan commented on the legitimacy of this alleged confession, “The defense will likely argue it shouldn’t be allowed into evidence. They will say that we can’t trust this tape. We don’t know where it was. It could have been manipulated. But those are probably losing arguments and ultimately the jury will probably hear it. You put that piece of audio aside and you still have that moment with the letters…and I think that’s going to be big trouble for Robert Durst.”

Dan on World News Tonight: March 16, 2015

wntDan joined David Muir on ABC’s World News Tonight With David Muir, to discuss the latest on Robert Durst. The Los Angeles County DA announced on March 16th that Durst was charged with one count of first-degree murder with the special circumstances of murder of a witness, as well as lying in wait and gun use allegations. These charges are in connection with the 2000 murder of Susan Berman and can carry the death penalty. Durst was arrested in New Orleans over the weekend under two new charges: convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance, which was a small amount of marijuana. This was all on the heels of the dramatic finale of the HBO series based on Durst called “The Jinx” where he was recorded saying that he “killed them all”. Dan discusses the impact of that recording with David, watch the full clip from WNT here.

Dan on Robert Durst Murder Case

CaptureDan appeared on Good Morning America, Tuesday, March 10th to discuss Robert Durst, the heir to a real estate fortune who was linked to multiple deaths back in the 1980’s but was never convicted.  One of the cases, the murder of Susan Berman, is now being reopened thanks to a new HBO documentary called “The Jinx”, in which Durst is profiled and tells his side of the story on camera.  Durst denies killing Berman but this new investigation could have an impact. Says Dan, “Remember, this is a guy who the local authorities believe is connected to a 1982 murder of his wife, the 2000 murder of his friend to cover up the 1982 murder and then charged in 2001 in the case that he, of course, was acquitted in. So the fact that he even cooperated in this [documentary] is astounding and so it’s not that surprising to me that now that they have Durst on camera and they have renewed attention to this case…Robert Durst could find himself in some big trouble.” Watch the full clip here.
