Dan appeared on Good Morning America, alongside of HLN’s Nancy Grace, Wednesday, May 25th to discuss the latest Bill Cosby bombshell. The former TV dad will stand trial on charges that he drugged and sexually assaulted women in 2004. More than 50 women have accused Cosby of sexual assault and the prosecution is likely going to fight vigorously to try to get their testimony included in this case. Dan commented, ” The question is will they be able to testify? And if they are, this case against bill Cosby is going to be a very powerful, strong one. If they can’t, if a court deems that they cannot testify as part of this case, this is not going to be that easy a case against Bill Cosby.” Watch the full segment here.

Dan appeared on Good Morning America, Wednesday, April 27th to discuss the future of Prince’s multi-million dollar estate. Prince’s sister has told the court that she believes Prince has no will. Dan commented, “He went through a lot of lawyers and managers over time. There might still be a will out there, but if there isn’t a will, then it’s likely going to be divided amongst the siblings equally. Half siblings and full siblings get equal access but the first thing a probate court is going to have to do appoint an executor.” Watch the full segment here.

Dan appeared on Good Morning America, April 13th to discuss 15-year-old Fatima Ptacek, the voice behind Dora, who is now named in a lawsuit filed in Manhattan civil court. The AP reports that the case, brought by Nadia Leonelli and Fredrik Sundwall, alleges that Ptacek encouraged their 14-year-old daughter last December to join her in using a vaping pen to in a bathroom at a private New York school. “The parents are basically saying the school violated its own rules and it’s so unfair they should be forced to readmit their daughter,” Dan commented. Dan added, “’I was discriminated against because I’m not a celebrity’ is a very difficult legal argument to make.” Watch the full segment here.

I know it has been awhile since I’ve last posted so I thought I would give a recap of some of Dan’s most recent Good Morning America pieces. To kick off the new year Dan gave us a recap of all of the major trials and legal decisions from 2015 as well as what to look forward to in 2016. One case that is ongoing and to watch out for is that of Bill Cosby. Dan appeared on GMA this past week to discuss the women accusing Cosby of sexual assault plus the new criminal charges brought up against the past TV dad. And finally, Dan’s most recent story is that of the ‘Affluenza’ teen’s mom, Tonya Couch, who is charged with a third degree felony, hindering the apprehension of a fugitive and has posted bond that was recently reduced from $1 million to $75,000. Dan was on Good Morning America, Tuesday, May 26th to discuss actress, Kelly Rutherford’s latest legal victory. On Friday, a California judge awarded her sole and legal temporary custody of her 8 and 5-year-old children, whom, since 2012, have been living with their father in France when his U.S visa was revoked. The “Gossip Girl” star is now traveling to Monaco this week to get her kids back. Her attorney told ABC News she’s grateful for the decision rendered by the California court sand look forward to reuniting with her children. Dan commented, “I think there is a series of violations here that finally led the California court to say, wait a second, how about the fact that both parents should be able to see the kids? … I’m sure the father will appeal. It will continue. She doesn’t have the kids yet. He first has to get served with the California order. They have to inform him. Then they have the Monaco court. She’s going over there. That doesn’t mean she’ll physically take custody…The kids are ordered to come back to Los Angeles by June 15th for this hearing. Question will be, does he fight it?” Watch the full clip here.

Mediaite founder and ABC News Chief Legal Analyst Dan Abrams was on Good Morning America Saturday to weigh in on the charges brought against six Baltimore police officers by Maryland State Attorney Marilyn Mosby in the death of Freddie Gray. Asked if he thinks the charges will “stick,” Abrams said he had his doubts.
“I think some of the lesser convictions will likely stick in certain cases, but I think most of the more serious charges, it’s going to be really tough to get convictions on a lot of these charges,” he said. “I think it is fair to say that this prosecutor, as a legal matter, has overreached.”
Abrams explained that two of the officers charged with manslaughter only came on the scene later and perhaps did not do enough to save Gray’s life. “That may be wrong,” he said, “but getting a jury to convict them of manslaughter for simply not helping enough is going to be very, very tough. And I think that once this case moves along, you’re going to see either the charges reduced or in the end a jury simply not convicting on the more serious charges.”
On the “conflicts of interest” issue raised over Mosby’s ties to one of the Gray family’s attorneys, Abrams said he doesn’t think there is a “serious claim” there for her to recuse herself. “But the rush to judgment is going to be at the heart of the defense,” he added, “that not enough time was taken to allow the prosecutor to fairly and objectively evaluate the evidence.”
“I think there are going to be some very powerful defenses here,” Abrams predicted.

Dan was on Good Morning America, Friday May 1st to discuss the latest on goings in Baltimore with the Freddie Gray case. In the most recent update, police are handing over the results of their investigation of Freddie Gray’s death to prosecutors and revealing the van he was in made an extra stop that had not been previously reported. The driver of the van didn’t tell police and somehow hid it or forgot it. It is still unknown how Freddie got the head injury that snapped his neck. Dan commented, “What happened inside the van is the key question. The police have handed over their file to prosecutors. To the state’s attorney’s office. That doesn’t mean they’ll accept it as gospel … They’ll evaluate, does this story add up? Do they believe the police? Then comes the crucial question, let’s assume they believe there was some wrong doing, to the point where they think it was even criminal, do we believe it was intentional or do we believe it was negligent?” Watch the full clip here.
Dan joined the Good Morning America team and HLN’s Nancy Grace, on Friday, May 1st to discuss the latest in the battle over Sofia Vergara’s frozen embryos. Her ex fiance, Nick Loeb, wants to keep them and is suing her to preserve the embryos telling the New York Times, “our frozen embryos have a right to live”. What does Dan have to say? “Look, this is not a closed case, as far as I’m concerned. I had to look it up and find out what it is…It made it very clear in this document that they both have to agree to move forward. And B, the only cases where the courts have ever said, we’re going to effectively force one person to be a parent against their will is in those really extreme cases.” Watch the full clip here.
