Dan on Judicial Elections

As Election Day fast approaches, Dan has penned a piece for lawyers.com about the one election we shouldn’t have: judicial elections. Writes Dan, “On Nov. 6, millions of American voters will be assisting in what is nothing short of a travesty of justice. Not based on who they will vote for, but on the fact that they are voting at all — for judges. In 39 of the 50 United States, certain judges obtain or retain their positions by popular election.” Dan goes on to explain how the public vote effects judges’ abilities to perform their job as they should, and why someone other than the voting public should be choosing our judges. Dan continues,  “I would rather have a Governor I despise making that call rather than the malignant political gamesmanship we call judicial elections.” To read more of Dan’s opinion prior to next week’s election, go here.
