Mental Floss Chooses “Lincoln’s Last Trial” as Best Book of 2018

Mental Floss chose the 56 best books of 2018 and published the list on Wednesday. Despite stiff competition across all genres, Lincoln’s Last Trial: The Murder Case That Propelled Him To The Presidency claimed the esteemed title. Since the book’s publication on June 5th, 2018, reviews  have raved on Dan and co-author David Fisher’s ability to turn Lincoln’s lost transcript into a compelling and, until now, unseen perspective on one of the most famous lawyers in history.

Lincoln’s Last Trial is the true story of Abraham Lincoln’s last murder trial, a case in which he had a deep personal involvement – and which played out in the nation’s newspapers as he began his presidential campaign. The book captures the presidential hopeful’s dramatic courtroom confrontations in vivid detail as he fights for his client – but also for his own blossoming political future. It is a moment in history that shines a light on our legal system, as in this case Lincoln fought a legal battle that remains incredibly relevant today.

On November 19th Dan announced his new book Theodore Roosevelt For The Defense: The Courtroom Battle To Save His Legacy. Using court transcripts, news reports, and other sources, Dan and David examine a tense political climate, a United States linked to armed conflict all over the globe, and a pugnacious former president known for suing the media during and after his time of office. The book is out May 21, 2019.

Geraldo Rivera on The Dan Abrams Show

Geraldo Rivera joined Dan to discuss his view on Trump, the Mueller investigation, and the pipe bomb events of last week following a divisive appearance on The View Thursday Morning. Geraldo faced massive backlash both online and in person for his statements that the mailed explosives were not real, arguing on Twitter:

“Put aside hatred of @POTUS & ask, with 12 days until a critical mid-term election-would a rabid fan/crazed supporter of @realDonaldTrump really pick this time to kill off the president’s enemies in a way guaranteed to make him look complicit in mass murder on the world stage?”

Geraldo apologized after a suspect, who was a loud Trump supporter, was in custody. He did so on both The View and The Dan Abrams Show and told Dan about where his view came from, lightheartedly laying most of the blame on his brother Craig. Geraldo compared this tweet to a previous photo he released of himself topless. Having thoroughly addressed the subject, the pair moved on to discuss Trump’s rhetoric, his promises and lies, and his own relationship with Trump.

Although Geraldo is on the president’s side for many issues, one where they differ is in immigration policies.

“It’s kind of bizarre, that he’s so keen to make more rigid rules on immigration when immigrants have played such a vital role in his life and in his businesses”

Geraldo Rivera is the Correspondent at Large for Fox News and Host of new REELZ Network series Geraldo Rivera’s Murder in the Family which premieres Saturday night at 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST

Sean Hannity On “The Dan Abrams Show”

Filed under: Blog — Editorial Staff @ 2:42 am

In a rare interview outside of his own show and Fox News Network, Sean Hannity joined The Dan Abrams Show for its third episode on Wednesday. The conversation focused in one part President Trump’s incendiary comments and actions, beginning with Dan’s question if Sean would consider himself an advocate for the president and leading into a discussion on Trump’s controversial public track record over the last two years. When questioned if Trump should be held to a higher standard of communication as president, Sean argued that

“Donald Trump was not elected to be your typical president. He was elected to be a disruptor and he’s doing the job that the American people hired [him] to do. That means he is never going to be the establishment figure that people in the media want or expect him to be. He’s not going to conform. But I’ll say something else––is the media does a pretty good job of bashing him pretty much every second, every minute of every hour of every day. And what I pride myself in doing is something different than what they do. There’s plenty of Trump-bashing on radio and TV and in the newspapers. My criticisms are far more nuanced because I think I have a better handle on the Trump audience than anyone else in the media.”

Sean Hannity is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host and can be heard on over 600 stations including Patriot Channel 125 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. He is a New York Times Bestselling author and can be seen nightly at 9 p.m. ET on the Fox News Channel where he has been for 23 years.

The Dan Abrams Show: Where Politics Meets The Law airs on SiriusXM POTUS Channel 124 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. every weekday.
